We now offer the choice between rebuilt VTT Stage 1 replacements, using N54 cores, or 100% BRAND NEW units! Every part including all housing, wheels, and internals are 100% new, not built from cores.
Stage 1 Hybrid upgrade: We start with a freshly rebuilt stock unit using all OEM spec internals, carefully machine the OEM compressor and bearing housings, to accept a TD04 14T compressor wheel. For the turbine side, we use the stock turbine wheel, we also remove the stock waste gate arm and flapper valve prone to rattling and boost loss issues and upgrade it with a 100% stainless steel piece to eliminate all of these known problems. These units also come with brand new factory OEM waste gate actuators. We chose the 14T wheel for the stage 1’s because it is a much better match to the stock turbine than the 15T compressor wheel even though it means we have to set up differently to machine the different stages. Stage 1 is the perfect cost effective alternative to stock OEM replacement turbochargers.
TD04 upgraded thrust: All VTT turbos come with a performance TD04 upgraded thrust to extend the life of the turbochargers. The stock thrust system has shown to be prone to failure and upgraded thrust parts were created to remedy this. The upgraded thrust option consists of an upgraded thrust bearing and a 30% increase in surface area on all complimenting thrust pieces.
VTT Billet compressor wheel:
VTT Stage 1 upgrade can include Billet VTT Compressor wheel as an option. These are fully forged billet wheels, utilizing the ultra-efficient 6×6 blade HTA wheel design as well as extended tip technology to increase airflow a solid 20% over the cast 14T wheels.
VTT Inlet, AN/OR Outlet bundle. The single most important addition you can make to your VTT N54 hybrid turbos is our silicone inlets, these are designed to fit in the stock location, and provide unrestricted flow to your new turbos! If you want the ULTIMATE combo, grab out silicone or aluminum as well. This will provide the freest flowing, most heat resistant setup on the market today. Ordering both saves you $49 over buying them separately! Please specify your inlet choice in the order notes!
VTT Shotgun HPFP upgrade bundle:
For those of you wanting to really step your N54 game up, the VTT shotgun HPFP upgrade will allow you to run 100% E85 with no HPFP pressure loss enabling your to make maximum power and do so while filling up at the pump. The single barrel kit will support 500-500WHP while running 100% E85 and will provide plenty of fuel for a stage 1 set up
Price does not include a core charge of $200 for all models (new units do not have a core charge). Core charge will be refunded upon receipt of cores in accordance with our core return policy.

We always suggest the use of an aluminum aftermarket charge pipe, and BOV combo, with upgraded turbos. Add the Phoenix racing CP, and Turbosmart Raceort BOV to your order for just $450! Please see our BOV article for proper installation to avoid compressor surge!
Install package price is for turbo installation ONLY, added parts such as Inlets, fuel system parts, etc will be additional labor.
We also always recommend upgrading your PCV valve at the time of turbo upgrade or replacement, as the stock valve can be worn. This means it can stop functioning to its full potential, causing oiling issues with your BMW. This upgraded valve not only replaces the worn stock valve it is also much stronger and will help eliminate any future PCV issues.
Engine oil choice with upgraded turbochargers is a very important aspect for longevity, we only recommend 40W oils and higher, with high Zinc, and Phosphorus content, for high shear strength.
