THE NEW AUDI S3

Audi has officially unveiled the updated 2025 Audi S3 and its coming out swinging. Hot on the heels of the recently announced facelift for the A3, the masses were eagerly anticipating what Audi was going to do with its sportier brethren. Based on the information provided there seems to be quite a few revisions which gives a good balance between the more relaxed standard A3 and track ready wild child RS3. Sadly, the US is only getting the sedan as the fun loving Sportback is kept off our shores again. The update also finally puts the S3 ahead of its slightly cheaper cousin, the VW Golf R, regarding power.

PERFORMANCE IS A BIG FOCUS

The bulk of the updates are focusing on upping the ante in the performance realm. Horsepower and torque numbers have been increased 22 horsepower and 15 lb-ft for a very respectable 328 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The S3 is also receiving a torque splitter, similarly to the RS3, increasing both agility and stability. What this does is enable variable torque distribution between the rear wheels. This is done by using an electronically controlled multiple disk clutch on each drive shaft that distributes torque optimally between the rear wheels on the inside and outside of the curve, which is dependent on the driving situation and drive select mode. So in layman’s terms, more power to the outside rear wheel giving a bit of fun tail happy shenanigans.

THE S3 WILL DEFINITELY CATCH YOUR EYE

Aesthetically speaking, a new large single frame grille and side intakes will definitely catch your eye. There are also 2 new 19inch wheels options if the standard 18inch wheels were not enough for you. Along with the power bump comes larger ventilated brake discs up front with new two-piston calipers.

There are also a few new colors that have been added to the lineup: District Green, Ascari Blue, and Progressive Red if you are wanting something metallic. Daytona Gray is available in matte finish.

CUSTOMIZABLE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS

You will also notice a flatter headlight design. The 24-pixel element that make up the daytime running lights also allow 4 different signature options to give you a bit of that personalized touch. This is a first time for A3 series models.

ELEGANCE MEETS SPORTY

Inside, the cabin is very reminiscent of the A3, but makes its more sporty nature known. Race inspired styling like the sportier seats with quilted leather as well as a flat-bottom steering wheel tells the observer they are in for a treat. From the black roof lining with panoramic sunroof, stainless steel pedals, silver accents, illuminated door sills, and familiar S logo, the true sporty nature reveals itself. You'll also notice the interior cabin space is a little bit more generous, but at the cost of trunk space.

BIG SCREENS AND BUTTONS

A 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen is paired with a 10.3 digital gauge display. However, if you opt for the Technology package or go all-in on the Prestige model, you get a larger 12.3-inch digital gauge display along with in-dash nav, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo. There are also still physical buttons for many of the basic controls located below the infotainment screen, unlike the Golf R.

FUTURE LOOKS BRIGHT

All said, the S3 is shaping up to be a very exciting platform for enthusiasts and tech aficionados. It will definitely make waves in the car scene and continue to solidify its place in Audi’s robust lineup.
