Unitronic Wins at Sebring!
A HEATED QUALIFYING. With only 15 minutes to put a hot lap down, Chris Miller put down a 2:13.419 after 7 laps, good for a front row seat in 2nd. To fully understand how even the field was, the top 3 were separated by only 3 tenths of a second. With everyone locked in, the team held one last briefing to go over the raceday gameplan to see if they can achieve the win.
FOR THE FANS. Right before the Grid lines up, IMSA allows fans to get up close with the cars and drivers and get items signed by them. UroTuning provided a limited quanity of special posters signed by both Mikey Taylor and Chris Miller. Those posters were gone in an instant!
TWO NAIL-BITING HOURS OF RACING. Chris Miller was to start the race for the first stint. Right off the start, the top 2 pulled away from the pack and Miller was contesting for the lead. After several full-course cautions, Miller went in for a driver change to allow Taylor to finish the race. Taylor clawed his way back up the pack and took first; but with the recent IMSA balancing changes for the Gen2 Audi RS3 resulting in around 7 less HP and more importantly, removing a liter of fuel capacity after the Daytona Race, Taylor was 4 minutes low on fuel to finish the race. The team knew this was going to be close, and tension was rising in the pits as the clock winded down.
ROLLING INTO VICTORY LANE! Impressively, Taylor saved enough fuel to finish the race while maintaining a 3 second lead on the runner up. The Pits once quiet enough for you to hear a pin drop on the floor, erupted with excitement and cheer as Taylor brought the Audi home to Victory Lane once more. Amazing work from Unitronic and JDC-Miller Crew for this amazing start to the season!
