Keeping your car up and running should always be essential. The last thing you want is to be driving and your car suddenly breaks down.

Making sure you are maintaining your car regularly will not only allow for the longevity of your vehicle, but also give you peace of mind from worrying about any car trouble.

Below are some Mini maintenance tasks you should be doing!

1. Get the Oil Changed

We're all guilty of this. We see our check oil light come on but we avoid the light for another 5,000 miles.

The oil keeps your engine lubricated, which means it keeps the cylinders of your car going. Without the oil, the metal rubs together and the friction causes the metals to fuse together from the high heat. If the parts melt together, the engine will completely stop and you'll be heading in for some costly repairs.

2. Spark Plug Maintenace

We may not even think about the spark plugs in our car, but they hold a lot of power. You should be checking your spark plugs regularly to make sure there is no build-up that could prevent your car from running smoothly.

If your car starts to stutter or you notice your car is not as powerful as it usually is, it's a good idea to check out the spark plugs. The stuttering comes from your engine misfiring due to the cylinders not running properly.

3. Rotate Tires

Making sure your tires are rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles will make sure that all your tires wear evenly.

Your front tires will take more wear from braking, especially if you have a front-wheel-drive car. Your owner's manual will go in-depth about your tires and what type of tires you need.

If you don't properly rotate your tires, you'll wear down your tires quickly and have to replace them sooner than you would have needed to.

4. Belts

There are various belts that help your car function smoothly. For instance, the timing belt helps the crankshaft to turn, which then allows for pistons to fire and keep the engine going.

If the belt gets cracked or is loose, this can cause major engine damage. If you hear a weird slapping noise, it could mean that your belt has slipped and you need to get this repaired as soon as possible.

5. Filters

Your car contains both engine filters and A/C filters, which are both vital to keeping dirt and grime out of your engine and airflow.

Making sure these are regularly checked will prevent a clogged engine that could backfire, and not only will changing your filters allow for longer engine life, it will also give you better fuel efficiency.
