The 2026 IMSA season swung through one of motorsport's most iconic venues last month, and it was a weekend that reminded everyone just how unforgiving racing at Sebring can be! The Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports team brought their #17 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport to Sebring International Raceway full of ambition, but unfortunately, the race had other plans.
The excitement with this race started before anyone could settle in. A major incident before the start finish line happened when the green flag dropped! This reshuffled the entire field, sending cars scrambling and bringing out a yellow flag that lasted nearly thirty minutes. Despite the chaos, the #17 managed to escape the chaos by being near the front of the pack. A small but important win in itself.
From there, Chris Miller took over with a composed opening stint, keeping the car out of trouble and keeping it in one piece. Once the minimum drive time was hit, he handed off to co-driver Mikey Taylor, who wasted no time putting in work. Taylor carved his way up to as high as P11, showing the kind of pace that had the team optimistic about a strong result.
Unfortunately, racing at this level rarely goes according to plan. Incidental contact from another Porsche in the field disrupted Taylor's charge, dropping the #17 back through the order. Despite pushing hard to recover, the damage was done, and the team was ultimately forced to retire, crossing the line classified in P18.
It's not the result anyone wanted, but Sebring has a way of humbling even the best-prepared teams. The Unitronic JDC-Miller squad is already looking ahead to Laguna Seca. If this weekend proved anything, it's that the pace is there, and this team has the determination to fight their way to the front of the GS class when the next opportunity comes.
