RS 6 Avent GT announced

AUDI RS 6 AVANT GT ANNOUNCED

Audi has unveiled its latest extremely limited-run of the RS 6 Avant with the RS 6 Avant GT. It's considered the apex of the model series and just a quick look you can tell a lot has been put into it. Packed with exclusive details both inside and out we do know this edition will be limited to 660 examples with 85 coming to the US, and 7 going to Canada.

Inspired by RS 6 GTO and 90 Quattro IMSA GTO

INSPIRED BY LEGENDS

The idea of the RS 6 Avant GT stems from the RS 6 GTO apprentice project from 2020. Audi had 12 apprentices learn the ins and outs of what’s involved in vehicle design and construction while working hand in hand with the support of Audi design. The results were used to show the range young talent can contribute to the company even as an apprentice. Their inspiration was the Legendary Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO race car from 1989, and you can definitely see the heritage.

CARBON FIBER ADDITIONS

The air intakes and Singleframe are finished entirely in high-gloss black, giving the car a much lower and wider appearance. A new grille and front splitter help enhance the aggressive look. Audi Sport GmbH has opted to fully redesigning the hood as well as manufacturing it from carbon fiber. It doesn’t end there though, the fenders are also made out of carbon fiber and have integrated air outlets hidden behind the exclusively designed 22-inch wheels to help reduce air pressure in the wheel arch and improve brake cooling.

INSPIRED BY MOTORSPORTS

Coming around the side you will see the well defined inserts in the side skirts as well as some very glossy carbon side mirrors. Around the back there is a special edition RS 6 GT lettering and the motorsports inspired distinctive double wing spoiler. One thing you’ll also notice is the removal of the roof rails which is a first for the RS 6 Avant. Doing this has provided a much sportier silhouette.

SEVERAL OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM

The following exterior finishes will be available: Akron White, Nardo Gray, Chronos Gray Metallic, Madeira Brown Metallic, and Mythos Black Metallic. There will be two exclusive decals also available in two colors. For Arkona White, the traditional Audi Sport Black, gray and red which comes with matching badges in the same color as well as wheels that come in high-gloss white. Black and gray toned decals come on the Nardo Gray or Mythos black. This time with high-gloss or matte black wheels to match and black optics for the badges.

INTERIOR OOZES CLASS

Inside the black interior is enhanced with exclusive accents of red and copper. RS 6 GT lettering throughout the cockpit remind you of how special this car is as well as a the center console adorned with the car’s series number in the limited run of 660 models.

A FAMILIAR POWERPLANT

Under the hood will feel very familiar as the special edition shares the same power plant as the regular RS 6 Avant Performance. Meaning a twin-turbo 4.0 V-8 that delivers 621 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque sending power to the Quattro system via its eight-speed automatic transmission. Audi claims the RS 6 Avant GT uses the latest version of the locking center differential, however it has been specially tuned for this particular model. The icing on the cake is the adjustable coilover system that comes standard, which is a first.

HAND CRAFTED PERFECTION

The final differentiator of the RS 6 Avant GT is in the manufacturing process. While all the other RS 6 Avant are entirely assembled on the production line from start to finish, the Avant GT will only see the standard production line for body construction and painting shop. Once that was completed the 660 models will go to a separate facility where the Audi R8, e-tron GT Quattro, and RS e-tron GT are built in small-series production. This highly flexible facility is unique within the Group and offers the best conditions for finishing the Audi RS 6 Avant GT. Finally, assembly is then carried out by seven highly experienced employees at three assembly stations setup for the exclusive special edition. Each vehicle will spend a day at the facility getting all the GT specific features fitted by hand. So this means the hood, fenders, rocker panels, double wing, front and rear aprons, and adjustable coilover suspension are all finished by hand.
