Rigidity is a commonly overlooked aspect of suspension components that is critical for delivering the sharp driving experience we all want. Under hard acceleration and braking, the arm will see hundreds of pounds of force that causes the OEM arm to deflect several millimeters, which when combined with the OEM rubber bushing deflection causes instability due to rear bumpsteer.

Weight is critical, it affects every aspect of the vehicle's performance. In the suspension, the control arms contribute to the total unsprung mass, which is weight that is more difficult to control, particularly over bumps. More unsprung mass leads to more wheel hop, less stability over rough roads, and a greater need for compression dampening to manage it. Even a couple of pounds can be significant when you consider that bumps will impart anywhere from 3 to 30Gs of acceleration.
