Unitronic Performance Software for 8Y RS3 2.5TFSI EVO at UroTuning

Exciting news for Audi enthusiasts, and especially for RS3 owners: Unitronic's latest performance software for the 8Y S3 (2022-202, 2.5 TFSI EVO DXH) is available in North America! This includes support for UniFLEX (Flex Fuel), Unitronic Advanced Features (UAF) Add-Ons, and the new Feature Box Hardware and UAF Control App for true on-the-fly adjustability. This is a massive step forward for VW/Audi performance tuning! Let's break it down:

The 8Y RS3 Software hits the scene

Back in May 2025 Unitronic officially launched it's preformance software for the 8Y RS3 in North America. This software brought about a plethora of upgrades and features including:

• Up to 201 HP& 152 ft-lb gains with Stage 2 E85.
• Native flex-fuel with UniFLEX support built into the ECU layer – no manual map switching required!
• Once unlocked, the ECU is user-flashable via UniCONNECT+ over OBD.

Unlocking the Bosch MG1CS163 (H80) ECU currently requires sending the unit to Unitronic HQ due to its robust security. (These ECUs cannot be flashed back to stock once unlocked. If a stock tune is desired, a replacement ECU is needed)

Enter Feature Box + UAF Control App

With the new Feature Box hardware + UAF (Unitronic Advanced Features) Control mobile app, Unitronic is offering dynamic control over key performance settings – right from your phone or straight from the cockpit. These tools transform what was once static tuning into a fully adjustable platform. Combined with your 8Y RS3 tune, you get:

• Adjustable Launch Control (rpm setpoints, boost levels)
• Rolling Launch Control
• Advanced Traction Control tuning
• Pops & Bangs (Overrun) tuning – duration, intensity, and drive-mode coupling
• Exhause flap / valve behavior
• Seamless iOS + Android integration

How It Works– Integration & Safety

Hardware + CAN Integration

The Feature Box (or UniFLEX module, if already installed) injects signals into your car's CAN-bus via a plug-n-play harness. It connects beneth the rain tray to inerface with the factory Soundaktor harness.

Because of this direct integraiton, the tuning adjustments behave as if they were native to the ECU.

Control Interface

UAF Control App provides a sleek UI for tweaking laynch, pops & bands, traction settings, exhaust valves, etc. Menwhile many functions are also accessible via the cruise control stalk + Virtual Cockpit gauges right from the driver's seat.

To enter the UAF menu:

1. Engaging parking brake
2. Foot on the brake
3. Press and hold CRUISE SET for 3 seconds -> PWR/TQ gauges display "1/1"
4. Use stalk controls (UP/DOWN, RESUME/CANCEL) to navigate pages & indexes
5. Release brake to save setting
6. Disenggage parking brake before driving

Safety & Failsafes

Unitronic layered in numerous checks to protecct your engine and drivetrain:

• Functions only activate if preconditions are met (coolant temp, oil temp, EGT limits, speed, drive momde, etc.)
• Diagnostic feedback: If a funciton won't activate, the Power gauge will show "11" and the Torque gauge will display a code indicating which condition isn't met (e.g. minimum engine speed, coolant temp, etc.).
• For Rolling Launch Control (RLC), there's a built-in cooldown timer: after activiation you must wait around 15 seconds before reusing. Also, the RLC session is capped (e.g. 5 seconds max) to limit exposure.

These safeguards ensure you aren't exceeding safe parameters–even if you crank the settings.
