New Unitronic Carbon Intake for B9 S4+S5
As is the case with any Unitronic product, this new carbon fiber intake system utilizes only the latest industry leading tools, equipment, and computer aided design software.
Utilizing technology from partners at Creaform and Stratasys, Unitronic has developed an intake that not only optimizes air flow and speed, but additionally eliminates air flow restrictions that are commonly present with factory components.
At Unitronic, development begins with setting objectives. Performance, efficiency, aesthetics and quality are of the utmost importance at Unitronic. Using 3D scanning technology, Unitronic engineers are able to develop parts and products that work seamlessly with your vehicles fitment constraints and mounting locations, with zero irritating modifications required.
Once fitment prototyping is completed, functional testing is used to collect flow data and insure that the intake offers a significant flow upgrade over the OEM intake system.
Taking each and every detail into account when designing this intake, Unitronic realized that they needed an efficient way to allow ample tolerance for engine movement on an item that is attached to both a dynamic engine as well as a rigid chassis. Rather than using a typical silicone hose, Unitronic opted for an extremely durable and high quality EPDM material for coupling.
This type of coupling system allows for a superior amount of flexibility when compared to traditional silicone, while still offering the rigidity and strength needed to be highly reliable on 3.0 TFSI engines.
This design also allows for smooth, laminar air flow on the inside walls, while maintaining the highest possible structural integrity via the unique ribbed design. Unitronic EPDM couplers are designed to perfectly align with the bead rolls on the carbon intake tubes, offering a perfect seal every time.
