Porsche drivers are known for their appreciation of the finer things. While we think these vehicles are great just the way they are, it's always nice to push them just a bit further to see what these incredible machines can really do.

There's no reason to settle for the status quo. If you’re looking for ways to improve your Porsche performance, you’re in the right place. Here are the top three Porsche modifications for those who prefer to take things to the next level.

1. Fast Road Cam

If you want the biggest bang for your buck, you’ll want to start with a fast road cam. This will give you a noticeable increase in your top-end power. The additional performance is significant, making this one of the most popular Porsche upgrades.

Any time you increase power, though, you’ll also need to uprate your fueling. A fuel pressure boost valve will improve your Porsche’s response to throttle.

Always remember that when your engine uses more power, it's going to get thirsty. Uprating your injectors will ensure that you’re supplying sufficient fuel to your engine. You’ll also need a bigger fuel pump to supply it.

2. Intake and Exhaust

Next on the list of Porsche parts you may want to upgrade are the intake and exhaust. If you’re dealing with a small-engine 911 then you’ll want to choose a washable panel air filter. For turbo vehicles and larger engines, adding an induction kit will also help improve your power.

While it's normal to think that bigger is better, be careful not to simply go with the biggest exhaust on the market. Instead, look for one between 1.5 and 2.5 inches, as this will give you the biggest power gain.

3. Wheel Modifications

Wheel upgrades look cool, but that’s not the only benefit. Adding alloy wheels to your Porsche will improve the brake cooling efficiency and lower unsprung weight.

However, if you choose large alloy wheels, you’ll alter your effective final drive ratio. This will have a negative impact on your Porsche performance. For this reason, we typically recommend sticking to a maximum wheel size of 18 inches.

However, if you have your heart set on bigger wheels, you can pull it off. Some drivers upgrade to larger wheels and have reported that they don’t notice any problems. If you’re going to do it, just be aware of the potential issues.
